I work from Earthrise Pottery Studio in Worcester, a clay workshop I set up with friends in 2023. I throw stoneware ceramics on the wheel; a process I find mindful and beautiful and helps me find balance alongside my other passion as a primary school teacher.
I have always been a maker and studied Fine Art at Central Saint Martins. However, it wasn’t until several years later during a pottery evening class in Malvern that I finally discovered clay. I love the routine and repetition of working with clay and like to design and decorate informed by the materials, processes and ethics. For example, for environmental reasons I like to make simple pale glazes that use minimal amounts of colouring metal oxides and more natural materials such as plant and wood ash.
I am proud to be a member of the Worcestershire and Gloucestershire Guilds of Craftsmen. My ceramics have been featured in Country Living Modern Rustic magazine and shown at Bevere Gallery, Timothy Hawkins Gallery, Bristol Guild of Applied Arts and The Artery Studios. I was awarded funding from Gane Trust in 2023.
